Thumb prints

From looking at hand prints based on my contextual references as seen on this blog, I have begun to think more about the way in which I can develop my work. When thinking about the Puebloan rock art and what the single hand print symbolises, I began to consider how each hand print would be different for each individual and how it acts as an identity of sorts. Furthermore, I have had the idea to use a series of images of fingerprints for an etching, doing nine different thumb prints on one etching plate. I asked nine different people to photocopy their thumbs in order to achieve nine unique thumb prints which is key in signifying the concept of identity.
