When researching artists who encompass ideas of evolution, I thought it would be interesting to also study the contrasting debate of the big bang theory and artists who explore these ideas.
This is the work of Josiah McElheny who is interested not just in the Big Bang Theory and science but also incorporates interior design and the history of art in his works. I find these abstract sculptures really visually stimulating and I get a real feel of the message the artist is trying to convey. McElheny also wished to display the reaction to the Big Bang Theory and furthermore the acceptance of it. I think when adopting subject matter such as this it is important to encompass the whole controversy rather than just showing sculptures modelling the occurrence of the Big Bang. The way the artist has achieved his intentions is really clever and I appreciate the way in which he has addressed the importance of the reaction and acceptance which are perhaps more dominant in comparison to the initial idea of looking at the theory itself.
