Painting on photos - photographic paper

These are images of my experimentation of painting on photographic paper with acrylic paint. Although the paint takes a bit longer to dry on this material, the overall effect and texture is much better than just painting upon normal print paper. I'm hoping that when doing a larger painting like this, that I will be able to print out a photograph onto photographic paper in A1 scale.

This last image is slightly different to the rest in technique and the way paint has been applied. Instead of choosing certain areas to paint over, I instead painted a thin coat over the whole photograph so the viewer can still see the image underneath. As I have been looking at painting over the faces of people in my photographs, In this image I instead scraped away the surface of the photo to create a different effect which I think works quite well. However, the effect has not been created so much using paint and I think this would work best when embarking on my photography project rather than in this one where paint should be more predominant.

I plan to select some of these photos to photocopy and then paint over again to see the effect of layering. I may also add different materials on top such as tape and string, sticking it on top and painting over and then perhaps peeling it back off to see the outcome.
